Joyful Clemantine

I am many things: a storyteller, public speaker, social entrepreneur and human rights advocate. Born in Kigali, Rwanda, after being displaced by conflicts, I lived throughout seven African countries during most of my childhood. Eventually, I was granted a refugee status in the United States. In 2014 I received my BA in Comparative Literature from Yale University. Wild facts, I have appeared as a guest on The Oprah Show four times and was reappointed to serve on the board of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum by President Obama in 2016. I share my personal experiences of adversity and seized opportunities as a way to reframe the way my audiences think, whether it be about their own privilege or basic human rights. I strive to catalyze development personally, locally, and globally.
