Bio

I am a retired environmental science educator, nature lover and global connection advocate! I have had the privilege to do a job I love for most of my life. I spent my days inspiring the future— individuals who I know will make a difference in the world. I LOVE to learn! I have studied volcanoes in Hawaii, Leatherback sea turtles in Costa Rica, invasive species in the Great Lakes, and visited and walked atop the Amazon Rainforest canopy. I am a TED Ed Innovative educator and am extremely proud of the six TED Ed lessons on environmental issues that I created with TED Ed! I am both a National Geographic Certified Educator, and Great Lakes CGLL mentor. Ask me about GlobalSpeedChat, an online platform dedicated to connecting students across the world that I co-created! Creating those global connections that will break down barriers is extremely important to me. Through these experiences, I am able to further my passion for the environment, nature, and the creation of global connections. I also love to talk about climate change issues and anything environmental. Finally, ask me about the Adirondacks of New York State--that's where I spend my summers and free time whenever possible--kayaking, reading, running through the woods, hiking, enjoying nature, and most of all, my family and dog Ranger! (who I use to help me teach science!)

I'm passionate about

Education, Environment, Reaching all my students, Global Conversation, Learning, Family, Trying new things and having adventures, Photography, being a good role model, Women's soccer, and trees!

An idea worth spreading

Stay curious about everything! Science is everywhere! Words have power! (both good and bad)
