Bio

Dr. Mark E. Turner, Associate Professor of Music at Stephen F. Austin State University, began working and making music with children in 1983. Currently he works closely with the SFA Early Childhood Lab and Elementary Campus to create and develop innovative curricula for classroom professionals and early childhood/elementary music specialists. Dr. Turner holds a bachelor of music in music education from the University of North Texas, and a masters and DMA in music education from the University of Houston. His movement education began with classical training in ballet; he has extended his understanding of movement through training in modern dance and Laban movement studies.

I'm passionate about

championing active musical lives. Music is more than something we listen to; it's something that we engage in as communities. Music is for a lifetime and that lifetime begins today!
