I transform the lives of young people by leading a team of inspirational teachers and staff through the common goal of helping those students develop many skills in order to choose their own paths in life. I came into this work by having experience in many fields and through the belief held by others that I could make a difference at West Sound Academy.

I believe that every human needs to play more. The power of play is cathartic and energizing at the same time. Play brings joy and releases stress and anxiety. Creative play that is not structured builds problem-solving skills and encourages innovation. I believe in the four day, 36-hour work week so that we all have more time to explore creativity and experience more play. All of us need to spend more time playing together outside and inside.

I was encouraged to attend TEDWomen by the board of trustees at my school. It is both for the experience and being able to bring back things I learn to my community but also to be able to host my own large TEDx event. I have been using TED in the class room for over ten years and it never lets me down when I need to emphasize a great concept with a short, yet compelling speech.
