Bio
Laura is a globally-minded strategist who has successfully worked at the intersection of culture and finance for over ten years.
Laura is the Co-Founder and CEO of AG Capital, a fund that focuses on the advancement of culture by way of world-class creators, impactful storytelling and unique live events. Founded in 2015, AG Capital has financed & produced projects for Brad Pitt/Plan B, Will Smith/Westbrook and Beau Willimon amongst others.
In addition to AG Capital, Laura is an emerging GP for Madre Ventures which will provide investment capital and strategic support to early/mid-stage enterprises that are solving significant social, environmental and technological challenges – profitably. Madre's central thesis is, “What would it look like to help one billion people?” MADRE seeks to support that thesis through the verticals of clean energy, mindful technology, and social impact.
Prior to all of this, Laura was a film finance agent at Creative Artists Agency. From 2007-2014, which was a pivotal time for a burgeoning class of independent financiers, she had the privilege of representing and structuring deals for a bastion of funds; among them were companies like Annapurna, 2929 Entertainment, Silver Reel Entertainment and FilmNation. During her time at CAA, Laura had the privilege of negotiating on behalf of top tier talent such as Meryl Streep, Matthew McConaughey, Joel Edgerton, Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman, Viola Davis, Julia Roberts, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Sean Combs, Justin Timberlake, and many others. She was able to help these talent clients by functioning as their conduit to reliable financing sources in the independent world. Among those transactions, Laura was involved in the packaging, financing and/or distribution deals for films such as STILL ALICE, DALLAS BUYERS CLUB, THE MASTER, SPRING BREAKERS, UNDER THE SKIN, ZERO DARK THIRTY.
Today, Laura is a strong advocate for building community and trust within the entertainment and finance industries. To that end, she has funded and sourced financing for companies like Allbright and Array Now. She also dedicates time to non-profits such as Defy Ventures and Ghetto Film School.
Before her time at the agency, Laura worked in Austin as an Assistant Director to filmmakers Asif Kapadia, Richard Linklater, Peter Berg and Robert Rodriguez.
Originally from Texas, Laura currently resides in Los Angeles California with her husband, Jordan Wayne Lee.
