Jose is a graduate from Hamilton County High School, in Jasper, Florida. He is a first-generation 2017 college graduate from the University of Florida's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Jose received his Bachelors of Science in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences with a minor in Nonprofit Organizational Leadership. In addition to his degree, he also received a Certificate of Family Life Education. Jose has 5+ years of experience in youth engagement through his community involvement in Hamilton County and Gainesville, Florida. He also helped facilitate an anti-cyber-bullying social campaign for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C. As a youth mentor, advocate, and speaker he travels across the sunshine state of Florida as a motivational speaker to inspire middle & high school students across the state. He was the 2017 Spring Commencement Speaker, TedxFSCJ speaker "Simple Encounters Lead to Profound Moments", in addition to serving as a workshop facilitator for several organizations at the University of Florida campus, local high schools & community mentorship programs. Jose enjoys mentoring young men, working with youth in the juvenile justice system, and teaching leadership to high school students through the Eastside TED-Ed Club. He is on the advisory board for the Family, Youth and Community Sciences Program in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Florida.
