Bio
Educator, father of three, parental caretaker - taught Social Studies for ten years, worked as an educational program director for the Peabody Essex Museum before returning to the classroom. Later moved to administration as a Curriculum Coordinator before moving to District Administration three years ago. As an amateur film maker I have produced films that have won national history awards and have worked with students to produce award winning documentaries that focus on state and local history.
I'm passionate about
I am passionate about education and ensuring that EVERY student has an opportunity to share and grow their talents and to find success in all of their endeavors.
An idea worth spreading
Imagine a world where education is not focused on competition but the personal success of each and every student, to bring them to an understanding of their potential and not measure them against some arbitrary prescribed standard. Imagine a world where educators are able to use all of their skills and talents to support students in their persute of knowledge and their talents and skills are appreciated at the highest levels. Imagine a world where each student's talents are nurtured, fostered and encouraged and the persute of excellence is the norm for everyone regardless of the path they choose.
The TED story
I was introduced to TED three years ago, and since that time I have used TED as inspiration, motivation, and encouragement to think beyond the obvious. Once I found out that individuals or communities could hold a TED event, it became a dream of mine to be a part of this entity that had brought so much to me. Now, we are on the cusp of bringing these same things to our community and I could not be more excited or proud. I can not wait to see our students engaged in this endeavor and to see the impact that it will have on our community. This event echoes a quote from a band called Flobots which says "throw thoughts to the sky and activate 20 more". Timberlane is ready to engage and activate!
