The TED story
I had been watching TED Talks while I was studying, as it would motivate me to strive to excel in my school work. I was often up late watching talks, and it would make me think about various topics very deeply, often keeping me up at night. One night, I watched "7 things to do before you graduate college" from TEDxRutgers. This is one of the TEDx talks that has inspired me the most, and is relatable to me currently as a Student Athlete at Saint Mary's University. That night, as I was wide awake thinking about what Liz Wessel spoke about, I wrote this in the note section of my phone: "Too often have I dreamed yet failed to implement. I can no longer allow my dreams to become my regrets". This is the reason I am here. I had dreamed of organizing a TEDx at my school. It seemed hard, and that it would take a lot of time and might not ever happen, but I didn't want to let this be another dream I regret not implementing. I told my roommate Morgan Wolfe, because I knew she would hold me accountable. Now we are taking the steps to make this dream become a reality.
Things you might not know
- labeling all of the countries of the world, their capital cities, and random, usually "useless" facts about them.
- an Australian accent, which I pull out humorously almost every day.
- reciting digits of Pi, the alphabet backwards, and "secretly" spelling things out in the NATO Phonetic Alphabet.
