Bio
Veronica Clanton-Higgins is a Clinical Therapist, Mental Health Consultant, Socio-Emotional Wellness expert, and Founder of TEDxComptonBlvd & the Compton Wellness Collective. A native of Compton, CA, she is known for her community advocacy and activism addressing the disparities in mental health care for black and brown communities. Veronica's goal is to address the socio-emotional wellness and mental health needs of underserved communities, such as Compton.
Veronica earned her Bachelors in Sociology /Psychology from CSU Dominguez Hills, Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California and is currently pursuing her PhD in Clinical Sexology.
An active member of the community
Veronica previously served as a Board Member for the Compton Gir.ls Club, is a current member of the CA 65th Assembly District Women’s Commission, and the Mental Health and Wellness Director for the Yetunde Resource Center. Her volunteer work also includes serving on several School Site councils, Parent Teacher Associations, and African American Parent committees throughout Compton Unified School District.
Veronica created TEDxComptonBlvd and the Intentional Healing Podcast to amplify the voices of Compton folx to change the narrative of how people view Compton residents. Her work has earned her the Compton Champion award from the City of Compton and the Women’s Leadership Award from the California State Assembly, 65th District. Veronica is dedicated to
improving the mental health and wellness of her community, and
utilizes all of her skills to do so.
