Ivonne Roman is a nationally recognized leader in policing and public policy with over 25 years of experience, rising through the ranks from police officer to police chief. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in the U.S., she brings a deep personal understanding of the communities she serves and the systems she seeks to transform. A TED Fellow and co-founder of the 30x30 Initiative, Ivonne partners with hundreds of agencies across the U.S. and Canada to increase the representation and advancement of women in law enforcement. She bridges academic research and field-based practice to drive systemic reform, improve police-community relationships, and promote evidence-based, equitable public safety strategies. Her work is grounded in a commitment to gender justice, institutional accountability, and the belief that lasting change must be both data-driven and community-informed.
