Bio

Brief introduction Li Xin is a girl born in Yanbian, Jilin province statured in the northeast of China in June 3rd, 1991. Her English name is Maxine Lee. Now, She is a sophomore majoring in electronic information engineering in the Minzu University of China (MUC). She finished her senior high school in the Second Middle School of Yanbian. Since enrolled in MUC, Maxine Lee has been taking an active role in various activities, varying from the hostess of different kinds of parties and competitions held by the Engineering College to the visiting guide of Museum of Ethnic Culture which stands in MUC campus. She is loved by visitors because of her enthusiastic and expressive introduction.. She is a favorable girl among the students. Besides, she also shows her talents in leadership. She was head of a department of the general branch of the Communist Youth League in MUC and the person in charge of recreational and sports activities of her class. At the end of 2011, Li Xin set out to establish a TED-related club and bring together the students who cherish the same ideals and follow the same path. Li Xin is extrovert, straightforward and full of organizing ability. She enjoys trying distinct things and meeting challenges. What she really enjoys is the process of making effort instead of the result of it. She is sensitive as a girl, and generous, bold and resolute like a boy. Li Xin likes playing the guitar and listening to classical and pop music. Whenever she listens to Bach, Mozart or Michael Jackson, she can either be moved to tears or laughter, even to forget all unpleasant things. Her Motto: life is too short, and be bold enough to do what you want.

Li Xin loves diverse life rather than invariable one. She is fond of meeting challenges, excitement and new things! She loves different voices and original ideas, which makes her excited and fascinate

The TED story

That “The world is slightly different because of you” is Xin’s dream since she was a little girl. She is aware that changing herself is the key to change her life, and that ideas are the antidote of the world. One day, Li Xin met TED by chance, whose videos inspired her. She realized that is the cradle of ideas. We, the Chinese college students, are in need of these ideas’ power to produce divergent thinking and to change their life even ours. Therefore, Li Xin enquired a lot about TED, and then applied for the license. She hopes the ideas’ power can give new vigor to the campus.
