I'm passionate about
Simply bringing acceptance for the autism community. People are aware of autism, but they are not always accepting or understanding. The two points I want everyone to understand about autism (there are more, but the top two) are:
Just like everyone is an individual and unique, Autistic individuals are unique and not a sum of the masses. Each person has their own personality, likes & dislikes, and autism affects each person differently.
No one knows everything about autism, no one ever will as it affects each one of us differently. So please be kind and accepting of each persons unique needs.
An idea worth spreading
I've been asked a few times recently if I could change my own diagnosis, would I? The answer for me is no. Autism isn't separate from me. Its tied into everything that I am. Every life experience I have had or will have, autism is tied in to it all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When it comes to my children, I cannot answer that question for them. That being said, I love my children for who they are and I know that they would not be who they are without their autism either. Do I want them to struggle and suffer? Absolutely not! But autism isn't like strep throat or even cancer, it's not something separate that you can just get rid of. Its not a separate unit that can be cut or zapped out of our brains. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
