About Mireya Yeya
Bio
Founder of NYC’s first all female mariachi and Latin Grammy winning Flor de Toloache. Multiple Latin Grammy nominee and Grammy nominated vocalist, violinist, composer, arranger and producer classically trained but her passion lies in Latin folklore, jazz, soul and world music. Education, representation and women empowerment has become a big part of her art as she has had to work hard to carve out her own path in the male dominated world of mariachi and Latin Alternative music, break down boundaries, lead a multi cultural all female band and contribute to the genre with songs from a woman’s perspective. All of this making her an advocate to and a representative of the Afrolatino community. Mireya has been a part of many educational programs including Lincoln Center, Mexico Beyond Mariachi, Mariachi Academy NY and many more. She has collaborated with the likes of John Legend, Miguel, Dan Auerbach, Linda Rondstandt, John Prine, Lee Fields, Cultura Profética, Monlaferte, Louie Vega, Natalia LaFourcade, HER, Chucho Valdez, Omar Sosa, Vincentico, No te va a gustar, Ghostface Killah, Bobbito & Stretch, Action Bronson and many more.
When she is not touring with Flor de Toloache, she is working on her solo project of mostly original music and continues to pursue her passion of collaborating with others.
