Bio
I help side hustlers, solopreneurs & other non-traditional creatives bloom as a business coach, keynote speaker, and author. My show BringYourWorth.tv is live Wednesdays 1:11 pm PT.
I am a TED Speaker at the main TED Conference second stage (TED Active), TEDxJackson and TEDxToledo, author of the TED book "Our Virtual Shadow: Why We Are Obsessed with Documenting Our Lives Online", and co-founder of the acquired Cuddlr, an app that connects you with others who want to share a hug, hold hands or otherwise connect as friends. I helped bootstrap our startup to acquisition within a year, all while being the primary caretaker of my infant first son.
Now I’m dedicated to helping fellow creators find their voice, use their influence, and honor their POV to represent others.
I am author of the best-selling series "The Ultimate Bite-Sized Entrepreneur: 76 Ways to Boost Time, Productivity & Focus on Your Big Idea". Inspired by my long-running Inc. Magazine column "Sane Success", the book has one argument: The belief that you have to sacrifice your livelihood to leave your entrepreneurial mark is a lie.
My 27th book is “The Complete Bring Your Worth Collection”.
Beyond that, I love documenting cultural history - not prehistoric, nor recent, but now - and helping others document their own historical perspective. Shifting from journalism to authorship to creation, the common thread is my absolute obsession with understanding, holding, and experiencing life as it moves.
I'm passionate about
I am addicted to understanding. The things I dedicate my life to, from international food & travel to language & literacy, all provide that one moment, that glimpse, of someone else's life
An idea worth spreading
Technology is often portrayed as cold, remote and isolating. If used wisely, technology can be the ultimate catalyst for us becoming closer to each other.
Areas of expertise
author, e-books, journalism - print and web, pop cultural studies, solopreneurship
Things you might not know
Crocheting. Also, identifying action movies from a two-second clip. It's scary.
