Gregory Arnold has spent a career on the leading edge of new markets and ideas. He is currently Managing Member of Auroch Advisors, LLC where he focuses on advisory and private investments in clean energy, environment, impact, fintech and AI and other areas of personal interest. One of his prime areas of interest is the collision of distributed clean energy generation and energy storage with the electrification of transportation. He also serves on the Advisory Council of the Harnessing Plants Initiative (HPI) at the Salk Institute of Biological Studies. HPI is a potentially game changing effort by Salk and its team of world-class plant biologists to make plants more efficient at capturing and storing carbon in order to mitigate excess CO2 emissions. Greg was previously Managing Partner of CE2 Capital Partners, an investment firm focused at the nexus of the environmental and energy where he was one of the first US-based investors to apply market-based solutions to reducing carbon emissions and developing more clean power. He was also President of CE2 Carbon Capital, a company that built and monetized one of the largest portfolios of carbon emissons reductions in North America. During that time, he was President of three forest carbon project development companies. Greg began his career with Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Kidder, Peabody & Co. At Goldman, Sachs & Co., he worked with some of the largest energy and power companies in the world. He later became one of the first Americans focused on reopening Vietnam post-war to outside trade and investment. Over his career, Greg has had a number of senior roles in large corporations and growth companies, including as President of Passlogix, Inc., an cybersecurity software company he co-Founded and was acquired by Oracle. Greg earned an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a B.A. from the University of California at San Diego. He is on the Board of the UC San Diego Dean's Council in Physical Sciences, home to a number of leading climate scientists, and is a Member of the Pacific Council on International Policy. Greg was named a Next Generation Fellow of the American Assembly. He has been covered in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Fox Business, The International Economy and in numerous industry and trade publications.

I first came to TED after RS Wurman became interested in a company that I co-founded which created a novel way to manage passwords. That company, Passlogix, evolved into a leader in securely identifying yourself on corporate networks and was acquired by Oracle. Since then, I have tried to be a contributor to the TED community - recommending TED Prize recipients, TED speakers, helping to secure funding for TED Prize recipients and opening my network to advance the projects of other TEDsters - including those who are younger and do not come from the business world. What brings me back to TED each year is simple. I am perpetually curious and want to be engaged with and contribute to the advances and issues of our time. Each year, I leave humbled and invigorated by the energy, vision, goodwill and brainpower at TED.
