Bio

With my team, I contribute to the emergence and development of participative democracy practices in France, Europe and the world, and support innovative ways to enrich government orientations and decisions with the collective intelligence of the citizens. I support politicians and civil servants to understand and conceive innovative approaches in leadership, taking into account the complexity of the contemporary society. I am proud of being the father of three human beings, now in their young adult stage of life. I have a passion for the capacity we have, as human beings, to create, cooperate, and make positive things happen in this world. I am an activist in social, economic and environmental ecology, as active member (as volunteer) of Unipaz (Peace University of Brasilia, since 1997), and since 2007, of The Climate Reality Project (TCP), NGO created by Nobel Prize Laureate Al Gore. I volunteered as TCP International District Manager from 2007 till 2009. In the '90s, I have been member of the board of the Belgian Committtee for Unicef. I am one of the founders of a Belgian NGO "Mistral Gagnant", dedicated to the support of seriously ill or injured children and teenagers and families (1988). For more then 10 years now, I have the opportunity to work with leaders in Reunion Island, a French (an European) outmost region in the Indian Ocean (near Mauritius). in 2030, one million people will live in Reunion - 800.000 to-day. It is one of the most diverse region of Europe, with Asian, African, Madagascarian and European origins.Being an island is being a micro planet. The difference is that on an Island, you can feel and experience the limits of your worlds. TEDxReunion is a contributor to this transition process.

The TED story

During the TEDxReunion, Paul Hoarau (80+), an indianocean activist and visionnary made a talk for the generations who will live on planet earth in 2150. After him, Camille, a young activist (17) shared her impatience for progress and new possibilities for the young generation at short term. When I invited Paul and Camille to share the stage for a few seconds, it was a magic moment. The talk about your "200 years plan" that was presented in Doha by Raghava KK came in my mind. Something had just happened in TEDxReunion about the collective 200 years plan. A lot of emotion.
