Don Tapscott

Don is one of the world's leading authorities on innovation, media, and the economic and social impacts of technology. He is the author of 16 widely read books about technology in business and society, most recently "Blockchain Revolution: How the Technology Behind Bitcoin is Changing Money, Business and the World" (co-authored with his son Alex Tapscott). In 2017, Don and Alex co-founded the Blockchain Research Institute, a think tank conducting the definitive investigation into blockchain use-cases and implementation strategies for business, government and civil society. With over 50 members representing some of the world's leading companies, governments and non-profits, the BRI is currently the world's largest blockchain think tank. In 2018, Don joined INSEAD as an adjunct professor. Together, they developed an online course breaking down blockchain in the enterprise. The four-part specialization is available now on Coursera. In its latest ranking in 2017, Thinkers50 listed Don as the 2nd most important business thinker in the world. That same year, Thinkers50 named Don and Alex the word's leading thinkers in the digital space. Among his previous books are The Digital Economy Anniversary Edition: Rethinking Promise and Peril in the Age of Networked Intelligence (October 2014); Macrowikinomics: New Solutions for a Connected Planet (2012); Grown Up Digital (2008); and, Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything (2006). He is a Member of the Order of Canada, an Adjunct Professor of Management at INSEAD, and the Inaugural Fellow at the Martin Prosperity Institute. In 2016, Don was appointed for a second term as Chancellor of Trent University. He also plays the Hammond B3 organ in the band Men in Suits, which has raised millions of dollars for charity.

The amazing collaboration I'm having with my son Alex helping make the Blockchain Revolution happen. It's a joy working with Alex, a brilliant young man quite his job as an investment banker superstar to try and live "a principled life of consequence."

How blockchain technology is the second generation of the Internet. We're moving beyond the Internet of Information to the Internet of Value. This technology holds the key to global prosperity, justice and sustainability.
