Joel L. Daniels is a performer, author and story-teller, born and raised in the Bronx who writes and tells stories for Black people. He’s been featured in the Columbia Journal, BBC News, Sirius XM, Forbes, Insider, Medium, Philadelphia Printworks, Blavity, and the Huffington Post. He has spoken/performed at the Apollo Theater, Joe's Pub, Rockwood Music Hall, Columbia University, NYU and Webster Hall. He lives in the Bronx and is the father to Lilah and West.

Life and the living of it. Education, and specifically, arts education for the youth in low-income communities. Love...finding it, having it, giving it, and receiving it.

Love. Peace. Prosperity. Ubuntu. Reciprocity. Forgiveness. Sharing. Paying it forward. And that arts education is fundamental in any discussion when we talk about leveraging the playing field for our children here in the U.S. and around the globe.

I'm just a kid from the Bronx, who thinks he can change the world. I saw, and still see things that I think can change in my little pocket of community. I want to help be a part of that change; to be a catalyst for it and help bridge the gap between the kids who don't think they can make it, and those they think they can, and do. TED has given so much more than I think I could ever possibly give it. The talks fuel me, and have helped me see things from angles I never fathomed.
