Bio

Stephen DeBerry is the founder and managing partner of BRONZE. He builds investment portfolios that profitably transform disparity to prosperity. Previously, Stephen was a partner at Kapor Capital. Prior to that he was an Investment Director at Omidyar Network, the mission-based investment firm started by eBay founder Pierre Omidyar and his wife, Pam. Before that Stephen worked in business development at Interval Research, the research lab established by Microsoft co-founder, Paul Allen. Stephen is a former Trustee and Member of the Investment Committee at The California Endowment and former chair of the Investment Committee at Planned Parenthood Federation of America. He has served the boards of the Dalai Lama Foundation, Nonprofit Finance Fund and was an advisor to the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Street. He also serves the boards of several startup tech companies and is an advisor to GoodLeap, one of the largest clean energy finance companies in the United States. He is a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Stephen earned a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology with highest honors from UCLA as well as a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology and a Master of Business Administration degree from Oxford University. He is a Marshall Scholar and a Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute. According to The Root/Washington Post he is one of the most influential African-Americans in the United States. He lives in the San Francisco bay area with his wife and two teenagers.
