7 schools + 10 countries + 30 plus countries = Mel. That’s how I would sum up my life (pun intended). My educational journey constant of 6 International schools where I learnt what it meant to value experiences and dive into culture at a very young age. I learnt about religions, languages and people in each country but most importantly I learnt how to respect and value each culture I got to experience. I am a 20 year old current 3rd year Fine art student at the University of Derby looking to progress on to a masters in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Being constantly involved with the university and students union here at the University of Derby is how I keep myself busy. Being a Student Trustee for the Union of Students has helped me grow and challenge my leadership skills. where do I see myself in 5 years? Working for an inspiring educational organisation with a PHD completed and traveling to see as much of the world as I can!

Over the years TED talks have provided inspiration, education and knowledge to my life. I had been a fan for ages but it wasn't until a friend of mine organised her own at a school I was in that I realised how great the organisation was. I then ended up changing schools and helping run a TEDtalk after school club where me and friend would help aid discussion around different talks. Few years later, I decided to take a brake from watching and try my hand at organising one. Deciding to apply for my TEDx licence was an easy one. I realised that I had built up enough connections and knowledge about the university of be able to organise one here. My TED story is still growing and developing with every step I take towards TEDxUniversityofDerby
