Bio
My name is Theodore Darid Mauro. I was born in the beautiful seaside town of Bay Head, New Jersey. My father was a lawyer and my Mom was active in the community. I had a very blessed life except I had trouble with spelling during a time when people didn't know what ADD was. I struggled in school and was consistently made to feel stupid. I played hockey to get out my aggression, I was popular with my peers and I rebelled against authority because I felt that I was never given a chance When I was tested and my IQ was off the wall I was accused of cheating or that my parents paid to have the scores changed. I had to hold onto my desk in High school because they wanted to put me in on a non-college track. I swore that I would dedicate my life to help those other kids who were never given a chance. Now, twenty five years later, I have a Ph.D, I have travel around the world 3 times, I was the administrator of 3 schools and worked in DC at the Department of Education. I call it extreme teaching and I continue to advocate for school reform with a particular focus on people with disabilities.
