Bio

Gene Shofner MFA is the Director of Creative Edge Hawaii, a presentation skills and leadership training company. Prior to launching his company, Gene was the Director of Academic Affairs/Senior Director of the University of Phoenix Hawaii Campus (UoPX). He currently teaches courses at the university in humanities, film studies, and public speaking. Before taking on his university role, Gene was the Managing Director of Kumu Kahua Theatre for close to 13 years where he helped lead the opening of the theater's permanent home downtown and where he organized the tour of two plays, Kaiulani: A Cantata for the Theatre and The Conversion of Kaahumanu to the Edinburgh Fringe and Los Angeles Festivals. Gene has acted in and directed numerous productions in the local theatre scene for over 25 years. For TEDxHonolulu 2011 Gene served on the Executive Board and was the Program Director for the event. He recently was the Speaker Director for TEDxHonoluluED and the 2013 TEDxHonolulu Salons.

The TED story

Began in 2011 with TEDxHonolulu as Executive Board Member and Program Director. I also was the speaker coach for TEDxHonoluluEd in 2013 and worked for several months on TEDxHonolulu 2013. Love to work with speakers and see their development.
