I've lived in Homer, Alaska my whole life, so far. My childhood was/still is spent taking beach walks to discover old and new invertebrates at low tide. I am an advocate for the environment, and of the voice of youth. I first got involved in TEDxHomer about three years ago when my good friend McKenzy Haber helped his mom organizer he first TEDxHomer event. Over the last three years my involvement has progressed to where I'm planning to co-organize TEDxYouth@Homer second event in Homer. I am also part of an environmental group three of my good friends I started, called EcoLogical. We heard our local landfill would close in 2011 and we wanted to prolong the life of the landfill, unfortunately, overtime the date has not been set-back so our mission has evolved to reduce the overall waste of our town Homer, Alaska. We were able to reduce the use of Styrofoam trays in our local middle school and also initiate a recycling there which cut the schools trash in half. We were after all teenage girls, and wanted to create a fun event to showcase our cause and educate our community without boring an audience. With this in mind we created Homer's first ever Trash-into-Fashion Show. This year we are planning to host our third annual. Last year, we had over 80 audience members come and watch and 28 youth model recycled and re-used creations. For a town of 5,000 people it was considered a big turnout. I prefer not the mention the awards I've won with either, EcoLogical, or my other activities but it certainly a large part of my recent life as it has forced me to work on my public speaking ability. Still, with EcoLogical I have won,the EPA's Presidents Environmental Youth Award. To which with TEDxHomer the teen section came runner-up the next year for the same award. Also with EcoLogical, I have won the Spirit of Youth Award twice and also been invited to present twice at the Alaska Forum on the Environment in the youth section of the conference. Even though I am 16, a junior in high school, I still participate in Girl Scouts. I've been in it for six years now, and have accomplished both my bronze and silver Girl Scouts awards and am near finished with my girl scouts gold award. With all of these recognition I would have to say the one I most cherish is one awarded to me by my local library. In early 2011 I was nominated for, and won, the first Youth! Lifelong Learner Award. Even though this is not a national award, i feel the most proud of it because it is celebrating learning. My one true passion is to learn. And I find being recognized for my love of learning is the greatest gift I could ever receive.

I have many passions, and am trying to navigate this world to find even more. So, most off all I'm passionate about being undecided. I come with an open mind to everything.

I think the continued recognition of viewing youth/ and children as an asset to society with opinions and views. Our voice is important, all you need to do is listen.

People would be surprised to know I can cook fairly well. Actually my specialty is mash potatoes and lefsa. Also, I'm a fan of metal genre music, mostly evanescence.
