Bio
Amy Baer’s experience in the Entertainment Industry spans talent agencies, major studios, independent distribution companies, and producing. The films she has supervised and/or produced have collectively grossed nearly $2 billion in worldwide box office. Her first film as a producer was the 2013 hit LAST VEGAS (starring Michael Douglas, Robert DeNiro, Morgan Freeman and Kevin Kline) which grossed $136MM worldwide.
In January 2012, Ms. Baer raised a 7-figure development fund and launched Gidden Media, a content incubation company which currently has 25 film & television projects in development. Gidden Media’s first production, MARY SHELLEY, starring Elle Fanning (THE BEGUILED) and directed by Haifaa Al-Mansour (WADJDA), premiered at the 2017 Toronto Film Festival, and was released by IFC Films in May 2018. She most recently produced BRIAN BANKS, which will have its World Premiere at the 2018 Los Angeles Film Festival in September. It stars Aldis Hodge (UNDERGROUND) and Greg Kinnear (LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE), and is directed by Tom Shadyac (BRUCE ALMIGHTY).
From 2007-2011, Ms. Baer served as President & CEO of CBS Films, where she was responsible for the development, production, marketing, distribution, and acquisition of feature films. During her tenure, CBS Films released its inaugural slate starting in 2010, which included the Jennifer Lopez romantic comedy THE BACK UP PLAN, BEASTLY, starring Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer, and the 2012 hit THE WOMAN IN BLACK starring Daniel Radcliffe.
Prior to CBS Films, Ms. Baer spent 17 years at Sony Pictures Entertainment. While at Sony, Ms. Baer oversaw such hit films as 1997’s MY BEST FRIEND'S WEDDING; 1998's THE MASK OF ZORRO; 2001’s Oscar-nominated ADAPTATION; S.W.A.T. (2002); SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE (2003); and the 2006 holiday hit THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS, which earned Will Smith an Oscar nomination. She also developed the 2011 Sony hit and Oscar nominated MONEYBALL, starring Brad Pitt.
She began her career at CAA in 1988 as an assistant to the late Jay Moloney.
Ms. Baer graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University in 1988 with a B.A. in English literature. She is married to producer Matt Baer (UNBROKEN), and has two sons. She is President of the Board of Women in Film, and serves on the board of the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project, Baer is also a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the Producers’ Guild of America, and the Screen Actors Guild.
