Bio

I'm an entrepreneurial soul, avid fan of unleashing ideas that can change the world for the better. Passionate about people, their empowerment and their well-being. I could tell you that I had a great time at university with many stories and degrees in business law, management & international business economics as a result. I could tell you I lost my heart in New York when I worked in the UN when I was 23 and I grew some balls when I started my first company, a digital agency called Adforce when I was 25, grew it to a team of 18, let it go and saw it perish. I could tell you I lost both my parents early and suddenly. Life taught me what is truly important. I could tell you I live in Leuven, I love traveling, new ideas and slow food, that I know a thing or two about wine and photography or that I am the organizer of TedxLeuven. I could tell you that I am a mentor to several web start ups and an avid fan of - God forbid - Belgium. I discovered what made my clock tick early in life. It's the well-being of other people and how economy and technology can support this.

I'm passionate about

Happiness economics, world views, system theory

An idea worth spreading

We can live a high-quality life if we upgrade our economic system.

Areas of expertise

The TED story

TED has been my brain tickle many times for years already. Since 2007 I'm an avid fan of the Ted talks, which first on my computer, now on the ipad are my favourite mind reset. My TED story is simple: I like to contribute to making change happen, hence why I'm organizing TedxLeuven. Leuven to me is the greatest village on earth. Within a few square kilometres, we have a global multinational (AB INBEV), a globally recognized technology centre (IMEC), a leading European University (KU Leuven) and hospital (Gasthuisberg). Above all though it's the hugely talented, modest people that make all the difference. Young and friendly, this place makes a small but vibrant community with the best of what a city and what a village can offer.
