Youth event
Youth events are one of our most creative TEDx event types, since they are organized by or catered toward young people. As you might guess, these events are all about imagination and having fun.
About this event type
Youth events are a little different from other event types because there are actually multiple types of Youth events you can host:
TEDxYouth events
A TEDxYouth event license follows the same format as the standard event license and falls within the same TEDx event rules, except that the event is oriented towards youth. TEDxYouth licenses may be held by adults, youth or a combination of both. For events held at schools, the license must be held by a current student, faculty, or staff member.
Applicants under the age of 18 must have an adult co-organizer listed on their application as a supervisor. For events held at schools, this could be a teacher.
Naming Your event
Youth events are named after their school or other community. The word "Youth" is included at the end of their names (e.g., TEDx[Your City] Youth, TEDx[School Name] Youth or TEDx[School Name]). Include a space between the last word of the location name and the word “Youth.”
Audience
Your main audience are the people who your event is oriented toward: youth! Other community members like parents and staff are, of course, welcome to attend.
Size
Like standard TEDx events, youth events can have up to 100 guests. Only individuals who have attended a qualifying TED conference can organize an event with more than 100 attendees.
Focus
Generally, your theme should be centered around topics that will interest kids and youth. But like all TEDx event themes, it should also be multidisciplinary and broad, and feature a diversity of speakers from across several disciplines.
Duration
Youth events can be as brief as a couple of hours, and up to one day in length.
Pricing
The ticket price you may charge to cover event expenses depends on your Licensing Tier. Events organized by a Community tier licensee may charge up to $150 USD per ticket.
