TEDxLive

TEDxLive is a license for TEDx events centered around streaming the talks and performances from an official TED Conference — either live or on demand — for an in-person audience. Born from the idea of opening the TED Conference up to a global audience, TEDxLive events ignite communities around the world to engage with, and build on, the TED Conference experience with a local touch.

You can now apply to host a TEDxLive event around TED2026: All of Us! Applications are due March 29, 2026. Please review the guidelines below before applying.

More on this event type:

Naming your event

If this is your first license, your TEDxLive event name will follow this convention: a name beginning with "TEDx," followed by the name of your city, school, neighborhood or organization, followed by the word "Live." Organizers who already have a standard license: use your existing event's name as the basis for your TEDxLive event name.

Dates

You can hold your TEDxLive for TED2026 event from April 13 to May 3, 2026.

Content and streaming

You can choose to showcase only TED Talks and performances, or curate local talks and performances in addition to streaming conference content.

You'll have access to stream all conference content for your in-person audience, live or on demand, exclusively through the TED Live platform. Licensees will receive streaming instructions before the event hosting window.

Please note that TED content can only be shared with an in-person audience, and you are not permitted to stream any TED content through online platforms.

Audience

Your audience is the people from the area or community where you’re holding your TEDxLive event. Some may be previous attendees from another TEDx event you organized. We always recommend that organizers carefully curate their audience, and select a diverse group of people who can contribute meaningfully to the conversation.

You may not host a virtual TEDxLive event.

Size

TEDxLive events that feature only content from the TED conference — that is, no live speakers — may have more than 100 attendees. Events that feature local speakers in addition to TED content can have up to 100 attendees (with the exception of events organized by licensees with 100+ qualification, which can have more than 100 attendees).

Theme

The focus of your TEDxLive event is determined by the focus of the TED conference, since you'll primarily be screening content from the conference. If you invite live speakers, you should feature a diversity of people from across several disciplines who primarily come from the local community you’re serving.

TED will also provide a customizable design kit for your team to use for your event.

Pricing

The ticket price you may charge to cover event expenses depends on your Licensing Tier. For example, events organized by a Community tier licensee may charge up to $150 USD per ticket.
